As the lacrosse season approaches, and for some of us, it has already started, there are inevitably some people who haven't picked up their stick since last season. In this article, Im gonna throw out alotta stuff that you can do to shake the rust off your stick and get you goin again for the new season.

Conditioning

Almost as important as regaining all your skills is getting in shape. Your gonna be running alot in games and more in practices, so go on long runs to get your cardiovascular endurance up. On days when your not jogging, run sprints to improve your speed. What you do depends on your position. If your an attackmen or defensemen, chances are you dont run too much long distance, so concentrate on sprints. Your more likely to sprint for a ground ball and clear it that to get a pass and go coast to coast. But, if your a middie, run long distance at a good pace, as you are going to be doing alot of coast to coast running.

Skills

The only thing I can say about getting your skills back up to par is PRACTICE. Throw against a wall, with a friend, take shots, do whatever you can, but do alot of it. Im off this week and you can bet I'll be out there everyday practicing for this season. Attackmen should work on shooting and passing, same with middies. Goalies should get someone to shoot on them (make sure its controlled), and defensemen should work on passing, ground balls, and checking (if you can).
